Magic Circle

NLV Records, 2022

An eight-track mixtape encompassing spooky electro, mutant boogie, and haunted house. Available from Feb 25th. Vinyl Pre-orders now open.

The beauty of Magic Circle is, in the end, the same sorcery that Lewis Cancut has worked across his whole sojourn in dance music. There’s a deep awareness of history and the present too, one which will always make you think, even as your feet are operating independent of the whirring of the cogs in your mind. They move because this mixtape is no dusty, dry dance history, but a supple and sinuous, electro operator. Lewis Cancut is that rare kind of producer who’s good for both your mind and body.” - Chris Cobcroft, 4ZZZ

Glass Computer

Revolver Upstairs Records, 2022

“In the most literal sense, The Late Show returns to Revolver Upstairs. After two years of hitting refresh on blank calendars, dancing to loud music in dark places looks set to return in 2022. At this point, a standard-issue press kit will say “so and so is excited to announce”, but in this instance, maybe a sense of relief is more appropriate. Relief at the possibility of resuming what The Late Show has been doing for the last 22 years; that is, blasting alien sounds of the underground through bass bins and tweeters.”

Cover art: Pariscope, Melbourne. Mastering: Danielsan.

Fifteen track compilation - two channel audio - File, FLAC, MP3, WAV.

Let’s Go Swimming

Revolver Upstairs Records, 2020

Halfway through Revolver’s somewhat hazy history, a ghost told us “it all starts in the club”. Nowhere is this more true than at The Late Show, where a resident DJ’s wage is dependent on their willingness to try things out. Everyone needs that new edit, that new dub, something pitched down, and something messed up. People in the club need to like what’s going on, even if they don’t know what’s going on.

Cover art: Pariscope, Melbourne. Mastering: Danielsan.

Thirteen-track compilation - two-channel audio - File, FLAC, MP3, WAV.

Air Condition EP

NLV Records, 2019

Melbourne producer Lewis-Cancut is back on Nina Las Vegas' NLV Records with a new EP titled 'Air Condition'

The RBMA Tokyo alumni and long-time NLV affiliate has previously released on labels like Activia Benz, Mad Decent and Enchufada, bringing his free-wheeling take on forward-thinking bass music to the table each and every time.

Here, Lewis explores the varying sounds, styles and production influences he's been favouring as of late across five killer tracks. And on icy cut 'Metal On Metal', Lewis offers up hard low-end power, razor sharp, Murlo-esque synths and a rowdy square wave bassline primed and in position to earworm its way into your brain...” - Mixmag

Cover art: Pariscope, Melbourne. Mastering: Robin at Pure Focus. Vocal Tracking on Lights: Ryu Kawashima at RBMA Studios, Tokyo. Written by Yuko Takabatake, Jared Davis & Lewis Gittus.

Five track EP - two channel audio - File, FLAC, MP3, WAV.

Scratch Track

Revolver Upstairs Records, 2019

“For 20 years, Saturday nights at Revolver have been home to The Late Show - an upfront musical experience, spread across 2 rooms. To celebrate the anniversary, we’ve put together our first official compilation of previously unreleased tracks from both the cage and the stage. Not some misty-eyed, nostalgia-tinged retrospective of club hits from years gone by, but a reflection of how the club sounds right now. The Late Show - As We Know It.” - Revolver Upstairs

Cover Art: Pariscope, Melbourne.

Single - two channel audio - File, FLAC, MP3, WAV.

Lewis CanCut - I-15 Feat Jordan Variant.jpg

i15 Ft. Jordan Variant

NLV Records, 2017

“LEWIS CANCUT is a producer well known for his complex, synthetic soundscapes and firm grasp on twinkling melodies. Soundcloud sweetheart JORDAN VARIANT is a vocalist and producer who creates abstract, sparse beats under his monotonous yet melodic vocals. Bonding over their love for tactile, rubbery sampling and spacious production, these two innovative Melbourne musos have just linked up for ‘i15’. Released through NLV Records, this being the label’s last release for the year, the track is a forward thinking pop tune about futuristic road trips and Americana.” - Purple Sneakers

Pasmo / Funky Flesh

Dream Service, 2017

Pasmo / Funky Flesh, a double A-side from the Dream Service's founders is a Frankenstein of latin-freestyle trinkets, imitation steals drums, and shimmering bells. Paz finds a tangent in Funky Flesh, pressing together electro-rap with his signature tropical vapours in a way that’ll make you move your own. Meanwhile on the flip, Lewis CanCut conjures up a melodic story of algorithmic heartbreak in Pasmo. With both tracks featuring heavily in their recent DJ sets, Dream Service :001 sets out the label’s role as the new soundtrack for both the club and your online safe space.”

Indoor Rainforest EP

NLV Records, 2016

Lewis Cancut’s newest release Indoor Rainforest is pristine, tropical house music from a rave inside a video game.

The influence of Japanese and anime culture is strong throughout the record (the cover art is perfect) and the bouncing synths, treated Japanese woodwind sounds and kicking percussion only compound the eccentric high-energy.

Cancut goes a step further on Ice Cream and Asphalt and employs the addictive, sickly-sweet vocal contributions of Miku Hatsune. While all of this might sound gimmicky to some, he’s created something truly intriguing – largely, because it never sits still.

Coming in at an economical 20-minutes, nothing is too cute and nothing outstays its welcome. Cancut takes listeners on an intriguing ride through his Indoor Rainforest which – in the real world – is a man-made attraction; and for that reason, the title is very telling. Nothing here is out of place. It will make as much sense in your headphones as it will when you’re dancing in the dark with strangers.” - Beat Magazine.

Say Ok Ft. Tigarah

NLV Records, 2016

“Sporting sugary, staccato synth chords and fruity, multilingual vocals from Japanese rapper and singer TIGARAH, Say Ok experiments with sounds unheard of in Australia outside of selective numbers from the Sidechains and NLV Records crews. The breakdown just before the one-minute mark is reminiscent of work by Henrik The Artist, with it's rapid-firing sampling loops and vocal cuts swirling around bright, bubbly synth chords, which leads into more light, sugary vocals from the Japanese all-rounder. The track was recorded when Cancut was in Tokyo for the Red Bull Music Academy, which just adds to the all-round radness of the track. Listen below.” - Pilerats

Vocals: TIGARAH. Vocal Tracking: Ryu Kawashima, RBMA Tokyo. Mastering: Robin at Pure Focus. Cover art: Jarrah De Kuijer.
