i15 FEAT. JORDAN VARIANT

NLV RECORDS - 2017

After a big year filled with glowing releases, Melbourne’s Lewis Cancut and Jordan Variant teamed up for a very ‘melodic, post-human love song’. Their latest offering ‘i15′ is a nice, stripped, laid-back electronic listening piece with Jordan Variant‘s soft and lush vocals complimenting Lewis Cancut‘s production.

‘i15′ is bubbly and animated and has nice bright Pop synth stabs that give the track a ‘sparkle’ effect. It’s super bouncy and has lots of layers to create a spacey and fizzy atmosphere. Jordan Variant‘s vocals are soothing, blissful and set the mood to the track, spiralling us into a completely different dimension.

PLASTIC GAMES FEAT. HATSUNE MIKU.

NLV RECORDS - 2017

We’re jumping through hoops right now with Lewis Cancut‘s latest single, “Plastic Games” alongside Japanese vocaloid superstar, Hatsune Miku. The Melbourne-based producer made a vibrant splash last year with his Indoor Rainforest EP, and now makes his return on NLV Recordswith another percussion-heavy release exploring the realms of pastel-tinted pop.

It’s a cerulean sea of idiosyncratic melodies, as Cancut weaves bells and wind chimes in and out of the mix to create a state of pure bliss. As the track transitions into the more club-ready, metallic aspects, thousands of holographic rainbow fish skim the surface sending the listener into enlightened disarray.”

DREAM SERVICE - 2017

Pasmo / Funky Flesh, a double A-side from the Dream Service's founders is a Frankenstein of latin freestyle trinkets, imitation steals drums, and shimmering bells. Paz finds a tangent in Funky Flesh, pressing together electro-rap with his signature tropical vapours in a way that’ll make you move your own. Meanwhile on the flip, Lewis CanCut conjures up a melodic story of algorithmic heartbreak in Pasmo. With both tracks featuring heavily in their recent DJ sets, Dream Service :001 sets out the label’s role as the new soundtrack for both the club and your online safe space.

INDOOR RAINFOREST EP

NLV Records - 2016

“Lewis Cancut’s newest release Indoor Rainforest is pristine, tropical house music from a rave inside a video game.

The influence of Japanese and anime culture is strong throughout the record (the cover art is perfect) and the bouncing synths, treated Japanese woodwind sounds and kicking percussion only compound the eccentric high-energy.

Cancut goes a step further on Ice Cream and Asphalt and employs the addictive, sickly-sweet vocal contributions of Miku Hatsune. While all of this might sound gimmicky to some, he’s created something truly intriguing – largely, because it never sits still.

Coming in at an economical 20-minutes, nothing is too cute and nothing outstays its welcome. Cancut takes listeners on an intriguing ride through his Indoor Rainforest which – in the real world – is a man-made attraction; and for that reason, the title is very telling. Nothing here is out of place. It will make as much sense in your headphones as it will when you’re dancing in the dark with strangers

SAY OK FEAT. TIGARAH!

NLV RECORDS - 2016.

“What I love about Say Ok, this new tune from Lewis Cancut, is that is does this PC Music sound on a level better than some PC Music artists itself, and coming from Australia, it's extremely exciting to hear. Sporting sugary, staccato synth chords and fruity, multilingual vocals from Japanese rapper and singer TIGARAH, Say Ok experiments with sounds unheard of in Australia outside of selective numbers from the Sidechains and NLV Records crews. The breakdown just before the one-minute mark is reminiscent of work by Henrik The Artist, with it's rapid-firing sampling loops and vocal cuts swirling around bright, bubbly synth chords, which leads into more light, sugary vocals from the Japanese all-rounder. The track was recorded when Cancut was in Tokyo for the Red Bull Music Academy, which just adds to the all-round radness of the track.” - Pilerats

TONY QUATTRO & LEWIS CANCUT - SOUTH EAST FREEWAY

MAIN COURSE - 2016

Over the last few years, Lewis Cancut has established an interesting style of bizarre and tech-y pop through releases on Activia Benz (“Yumi Fruit”) and NLV Records (“Systems”, “Say OK”). His tag team single with NEST alum, Quattro gives us an awesome spin on tribal that really makes the most of a few core elements: a fun, bouncy lead, a driving combo of hypnotic rhythms and syncopated pads, and catchy, memorable vocal samples.

ACTIVIA BENZ - 2015

“The latest release from Activia Benz‘s Singles Club is a collaboration between Melbourne’s Swick and Lewis Cancut. Both are incredibly impressive artists in the world of club music. The two produce the kind of hard-hitting sounds promoted by the likes of Astronomar and Main Course: minimal yet robust, melodic yet mechanical. Their most recent, “Yumi Fruit”, released two hours ago, is a great example of how the two can easily fuse their skills into one amazing tune. The tune features a driving bassline, moombah-inspired accents (that woodblock reminds me of something I can’t put my finger on), and enough energy to retrofit an army of tesla coil robots.”
